Shotblasting
The surfaces that are ideal for using shot blasting
Metal
Metals surfaces are ideally cleaned through
the shot blasting techniques. As the metal sheets are very hard, it is easy to
remove the top layer by bombarding it with cut wire abrasive or some other material without damaging the material to get
the desired result. You will find workers removing rusts, old paints, and
grease through this process
Concrete
You will also find workers cleaning the
concrete surface through this process especially the floors of factories or
warehouses. As concrete is extremely hard, you can use the shot blasting
process safely to either clean the surface or even change the composition of
the floor.
The materials on which
shot blasting should not be used
Wood
The wood may look and feel hard to touch but
if you try to clean it through the shot blasting process, then you will
completely ruin the surface. Cut wire shots are extremely hard and blasting it on a wooden surface is not a good idea to clean it.
Plastic
Plastic also look and feel very hard like the
wood, but try to clean it with shot blasting and you will most likely damage
it. Therefore, cleaning a plastic surface through shot blasting will leave you
with a mangled mess.
Building
Bricks also look quite formidable as they hold
thousands of tons of the entire building weight on their shoulder. However, if
you try to shot blast the surface, then it will severely damage the material.
We hope that this article has informed you
regarding which materials can be ideally cleaned using the shot blasting method
and which could not be done. To clean those surfaces you can use sandblasting, spraying it with highly pressurized water, or even manually clean it with
a brush. If you are still confused about the applicability of the shot blasting
process on a particular material, then we suggest that you consult experts in
this field and act as per their instruction.
